Tip #6

Taking care of white clothes

All our tips for preserving the color and brilliance of your white parts.

Absolutely avoid bleach. It gives an artificial whiteness, damages fibers and eventually causes irregular yellowing.

Prevent before bleaching

A white that lasts is a white that you protect from the outset. Avoid prolonged contact with fading materials such as dark leather bags or raw denim. And above all, air your rooms after each wear. Never put them away while they're still damp: this is the best way to reveal stubborn marks or odors.

Wash with care

Always wash white clothes on their own! Even light colors eventually bleed, sooner or later. Use a temperature of 30°C to 40°C, except for heavy stains.

To revive whiteness without damaging fibers, add a little baking soda or a pinch of sodium percarbonate to your wash cycle. For a more natural method, two wedges of seedless lemon in the drum can also do the trick!

Avoid fabric softeners, which can clog fibers. Just rinse with a little white vinegar to soften naturally.

Intelligent untying

Before washing, focus on high-risk areas: collar, cuffs, underarms.

Rub them gently with Marseille soap or a natural stain remover.

For stubborn yellow stains, apply a mixture of washing-up liquid (1 teaspoon), hydrogen peroxide or percarbonate (2 teaspoons) and baking soda (sprinkle over the stain). Leave on for half an hour, then rinse with warm water and wash as usual.

Dry without tarnishing

The tumble dryer is white's discreet enemy: it turns fibers yellow over time. Instead, lay your pieces out in the open, away from direct sunlight. Moderate exposure to the sun can help revive white naturally, but too much sun can dry out or stiffen the fabric.
