What materials to choose for warm socks?
Wool and cashmere are natural fibers that insulate against the cold, are breathable and moisture-wicking. Acrylic is also recommended. Unlike wool and cashmere, acrylic is a synthetic fiber, but it is soft and keeps feet warm.
On the other hand, avoid cotton socks in winter, as cotton is a moisture-absorbing fiber. So your feet stay cold. The same applies to polyester, which is not very breathable.
What height socks should I choose?
- We opt forthe shortest: ballerina socks or invisible socks. They're not the warmest, but they're the most discreet. Polyamide "sport" models are often thicker and warmer.
- Choose short socks and leave 4 to 5 cm of skin exposed. If the sock is a little long, don't hesitate to roll it up a little.
- For those of you with a cold, choose the longest socks possible to avoid uncovering a millimetre of skin, preferably in wool!
